چکیده

It is a great pleasure to be here to help celebrate Pran Nath’s 65 birthday. I first met Pran and Dick in 1982 when I came to Northeastern as a post-doc in their group. They had just developed the first supergravity grand unified model in collaboration with Ali Chamseddine and were very keen to know if grand unified theories could be formulated on the lattice. The first hurdle in this quest was whether supersymmetric nonabelian gauge theories could be formulated on the lattice. Needless to say we did not make much progress on that front. Over the last 22 years there has been significant progress on formulating QCD with chiral symmetry on the lattice (staggered, twisted mass Wilson , overlap and Domain Wall (DW) fermions ) and some on chiral gauge theories. However, the original problem of formulating supersymmetric non-abelian gauge theories on the lattice and exploring their strongly coupled sector using lattice simulations still remains. My three years stay at Northeastern was very productive. Pran and Dick gave me total freedom to pursue lattice QCD and statistical mechanics and were extremely supportive of my work. During this time I continued

Progress in Kaon Phenomenology from Lattice QCD

Kaon physics is an area in which lattice QCD can have an important impact in Phenomenology. I review the recent progress and current status of three particular topics: kaon beta-decay, the kaon B-parameter and the non-leptonic decay of the kaon into two pions.

Data Envelopment Analysis from simulation on the Lattice QCD using CCR model

One of the most serious principles in production theory in economic is the principle of "efficiency". Simply put, efficiency can be defined as the demand that the desired goals (outputs) are achieved with the minimum use of the available resources (inputs). In order to, distinguish the relative efficiency of organizational units with multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs, "Data Envelopmen...

Phenomenology of the Standard Model from Lattice QCD1

Some recent results of lattice QCD calculations which are relevant for the phenomenology of the Standard Model are reviewed. They concern the lattice determinations of quark masses, studies of K−K̄ and B−B̄ mixings, and a prediction of the B s -mesons lifetime difference. The results of a recent analysis of the CKM unitarity triangle, which is mostly based on the lattice calculations of the relev...

Lattice Predictions for Low Q 2 Phenomenology

Recent results of Monte Carlo simulations for SU(3) lattice gauge theories are used to make quantitative predictions which can be compared with QCD phenomenology. In particular, lattice results are used to predict the onset of nonperturbative effects and to determine the interquark potential. The relationship between A0 and the short distance scale of the qqpotential is also calculated. The pre...

Lattice QCD , Chiral Perturbation Theory and Hadron Phenomenology ∗

These are the proceedings of the workshop on “Lattice QCD, Chiral Perturbation Theory and Hadron Phenomenology” held at the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas from October 2 to 6, 2006. The workshop concentrated on bringing together researchers working in lattice QCD and chiral perturbation theory with the aim of improving our understanding how hadron p...
